Although all of these can help, understanding yours and your clients’ experience and how to work with that process is hard to do on your own or even with friends. You need someone who has both a great deal of clinical experience and training. Someone who has grappled with these same issues. Who can be with you and what you want and what you need to learn. Someone who will help you put together your own experience, knowledge and wisdom. And who has new understandings to offer. Someone who understands that you have wisdom already. That person can help you move forward with confidence and new skills.
Supervision & Gestalt Training Background
Since 1979, I’ve worked with hundreds of clients, as individuals, couples and in groups and have been a teacher and supervisor of social workers and social work students during that period, as well. Over a span of 15 years I was a full time faculty member at three social work schools. At Catholic University, I taught clinical practice with individuals, integrating object relations theory with Gestalt therapy. The two group therapy courses I taught were centered around learning experientially. This way of learning helps us access wisdom that we may not know we have.
I am a Maryland Board Approved Category 1 continuing education sponsor (social work) as well as a Maryland Board Approved Supervisor.
